An expense tracker for the UAE that never asks for your bank login
Most budgeting apps want your online banking credentials before they will do anything useful. Meezanya works the other way around: you type what you spent in plain words, and it works out the amount and the category. Nothing to connect, nothing to authorise, no access to your accounts.
That means it works identically whether your salary lands at Emirates NBD, FAB, ADCB, Mashreq, Liv., Wio, or a bank in your home country — because it never touches any of them.
Track spending in dirhams, in seconds
Type talabat 62, carrefour 240, salik 4 and you have logged three expenses. Meezanya reads each amount, files it under Food & Dining, Groceries and Transport, and shows you the running total for the month in AED.
It already recognises the names UAE residents actually use — Talabat, Deliveroo, Carrefour, Lulu, Spinneys, Noon, Namshi, Careem, Salik, ADNOC, ENOC, nol, DEWA, Etisalat, du, Aster, VOX Cinemas — so most entries need no correction at all. When it does get something wrong, you fix it once and it remembers.
Built for how money actually works here
- Salary-cycle budgeting. Set a monthly limit per category and watch the bar fill as the month goes on, so the end of the month holds no surprises.
- Recurring bills on autopilot. Rent, DEWA, Salik top-ups, Etisalat or du, gym and subscriptions get logged each month and flagged for a quick confirmation.
- Who paid. Households where more than one person spends can record who paid for what, and see the split in reports.
- Your currency. AED by default. Change it in settings if you move.
Why no bank connection is the point, not a limitation
Handing your banking credentials to a third party means trusting that company's security with the keys to your money. Meezanya cannot leak what it never holds: the worst case for your bank account is nothing at all, because there is no connection to compromise. You can export everything to CSV whenever you want, and delete your account and its data on request.
The trade is that entries are typed rather than imported. In practice that takes a few seconds a day, and it has a side benefit — the act of typing what you spent is what makes you notice it.
Questions people ask
Do I need to link my bank account to track expenses in the UAE?
No. Meezanya has no bank integration at all — you type what you spent and it categorises it. That means it works the same whether you bank with Emirates NBD, FAB, ADCB, Mashreq, Liv., Wio or a bank back home, and there are no credentials to hand over.
Is there a free expense tracker that works in the UAE?
Yes. Meezanya is free to start, works in AED, and needs no card to sign up.
Can I track expenses in dirhams?
Yes. AED is the default for UAE users — budgets, reports and CSV exports are all in dirhams.
Does it recognise UAE shops and services?
It knows the names UAE residents actually type: Talabat, Deliveroo, Carrefour, Lulu, Spinneys, Noon, Careem, Salik, ADNOC, ENOC, DEWA, Etisalat, du, VOX Cinemas and more. Anything it does not know, it learns the first time you categorise it.
Will it work without an internet connection?
Meezanya installs to your home screen and opens offline, showing your most recent data. New entries need a connection to save.
